High School

The High School introduces the ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth-grade students to the heritage of the highly successful, traditional, liberal arts curriculum of GEA. The High School requires students to take courses in Mathematics (Algebra 1 & 2, Precalculus & Calculus), Sciences (Physics Chemistry and Biology), Social Studies, Economics, World History, and Geography and world languages like English, French, Arabic…etc
 

The GEA-preparatory curriculum offers a balanced, well-rounded approach that allows students' preparation for study at any academic discipline they select at any university. Though they may differ in talent, aptitude, ability, and background, students are continually challenged academically. They are encouraged to participate in various school-sponsored activities and athletic programs and given opportunities to practice their core values as members of their respective communities.
 

Academic Requirements – 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th Grades

The traditional OLGIS program leads to higher education apprenticeships or employment. Our well-rounded graduates acquire a broad educational background that prepares them to get into the top universities worldwide. We aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring individuals who are motivated to succeed in their careers and in their personal lives.
 

A.    Required Courses for Graduation from GEA with Passing Grades:

2. Algebra I 70 %

3. Algebra II 70 %

4. Geometry 70 %

5. Precalculus 70 %

6. Calculus 70 %

7. Physics 70 %

8. Chemistry 70 %

9. Biology 70 %

10. Economics 70 %

11. Social Studies 70 % 

12. World Language – French 65%

13. World Language – Arabic 65%

14. Word Language – Spanish 65%

15. Fine Arts 65 %

16. Physical Education (PE) 65 %

17. Technology 70 %
 

Also, a 25 –hour’s calendar year project must be completed in 10th, 11th, and 12th Grades for a total of 75 hours. This project includes community service, volunteer work, career exploration, and cultural exchange programs.
 

B.     The student must achieve a minimum cumulative average of 70 % for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades to obtain the school recommendation for university.
 

C.    All 12th-grade students must have taken one standardized achievement test (ACT or SAT). The results must be sent to GEA before the end of January of their 12th-grade year.
 

D.   Academic honesty is expected of all GEA students.
 

E.     Students must live with at least one parent or guardian in order to attend classes at GEA.


F. Grade 12 students are encouraged to apply to a maximum of three universities.

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is a type of standardized test in West Africa. Students who pass the exam receive a certificate confirming their graduation from secondary education
